Frankenstein vehicles and passenger safety

There are many Denver area residents who have had the opportunity to take a limo for a special event. Whether it be for a birthday or anniversary, wedding, prom, or just because, a limo is often a fun way to transport a group of people. Most of the time people are able to enjoy a limo ride in complete safety, but not all limousine companies do a thorough safety check of their vehicles, which can lead to serious car accidents.

The worst transportation accident in the United States in ten years occurred recently in New York. A driver of a limousine carrying 17 passengers lost control of the vehicle, killing all 17 passengers, the driver, and two pedestrians. It turns out that this incredibly tragic accident could have been prevented. The limo that was in the accident had recently failed a safety inspection, the driver did not hold the proper license to operate the vehicle and even a passenger in the vehicle texted a friend saying she worried about her safety.

This accident has resulted in people across the United States worrying about how safe limousines really are. Many limousines are created by modifying an existing vehicle by sawing it in half and lengthening the body in a type of "Frankenstein vehicle" transformation. When the vehicles are transformed into limos, parts are added that are not original to them and seat belts and air bags are often taken out. Any of these issues can cause serious problems, especially if proper safety inspections are not completed or followed.

If a family finds themselves the victim of a serious car accident, they may want to speak with an attorney who specializes in personal injury. An attorney can visit the accident scene, review police reports, interview witnesses, and determine what happened to cause the accident. They can hold the negligent party responsible for their negligence, whether that be the owner of the vehicle, the driver, or a company. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages.
